The Role
Great company. Great products. Fun lively atmosphere. My particular job was interesting in theory and had some good projects to do but was given fairly dull jobs a fair amount.
Really lovely team who always looked out for you and valued your input. Sometimes felt grads got praise for work done by interns.
Manager knew everything there was to know and was always helpful and understanding when you asked. He was too busy to look after an intern really so I was quite often left to my own devices which meant setting my own work, which I enjoyed but was sometimes a bit annoying when I had no idea what I was meant to be doing and he wasn't around to ask.
Honestly varied such a lot, some days I would not stop once and not have time for lunch and have to stay late and other days would have basically nothing to do. Everything seemed to come at once and L'Oreal has a very fast/ last minute culture where pieces of work are set one day and due the next so quite difficult to spread it out even if you want to.
By the end especially I felt I had total responsibility for my projects and my manager would trust me to work with the retailers unsupervised.
Really learnt such a lot, and very varied. Will be useful in applying to any job! Already seeing the benefits in my degree now back in third year.
The Company
So busy, lively, fun. If you like working in silence this is not the place for you! Really creative and innovative atmosphere. Office socials almost every week, free bar one the last Thursday of every month.
Good set up with set review times and intro sessions plus HR organised events and intern committe which helped bring everyone together. Felt HR could have checked how we were getting along at some point tho, I didn't speak to them seriously once after the first week.
Job specific training e.g. how to use the software and stuff. Optional company wide training in diversity but nothing else. The grads get a lot of training.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Would definitely work for them again if it was the pefect job for me
The Culture
100%. All friends, went out a lot together in London and some people lived together. Makes work so much better when you've got a massive group of friends there.
London- obviously very expensive but your getting paid and never have before so feel rich. And you still get student discount and don't have to pay council tax. And your all in the same boat so it's fine. You'll learn to love the cocktail deals at be at one across the road.
No nightlife as in clubs at all in Hammersmith. But in nearby places in London there's loads. And in Hammersmith there's lots of nice pubs, restaurants, a theatre
They have sports teams and things where you can go on tours abroad! Also have a paid day where you go and volunteer somewhere.
