The Role
I loved my placement year at L'Oréal! There were plenty of good days and plenty of difficult days, but each day I learned something new which will be invaluable for my career in the future.
Right from day one, I felt like a true member of the team and not "just an intern". Everyone on the team treated me with respect - from the lower level managers right up to the Mancom.
My managers were brilliant throughout the whole year - we had regular catch-ups to discuss my progress and I was given gradually more responsibility as my experience grew.
I was incredibly busy throughout the year. I often felt a little overwhelmed at the amount of work (and the amount of emails!) I was getting but my managers helped me to prioritise.
I was given an incredible amount of responsibility! I was responsible for creating and approving social posts for the brand, and my managers trusted my judgement and let me get on with it!
The skills that I've gained through working at L'Oréal will help me through my final year at university as well as throughout my career beyond university. It really was an invaluable experience.
The Company
The office environment was great - there was a real team spirit and lots of socialising opportunities. When the pressure hit one team, it really did hit them all as we all worked together.
The placement was really well organised - there were lots of opportunities for interns to socialise together and lots of feedback sessions with the placement staff.
I was able to go on lots of training days throughout my placement - from sessions at Google and Facebook about Search and Social Media to in-house training on the asset management system. My managers were always very supportive of my learning.

There are plenty of opportunities for the Graduate Scheme as well as entry level roles at the business. The connections I've made through my placement year will be useful for finding out about opportunities.
The Culture
Absolutely! Everyone was always up for socialising on a Friday afternoon!
I think I sacrificed the quality of my accommodation in order to be able to afford to socialise - but with London what do you expect?
There was great nightlife in London, although I didn't get to experience much of it because of work.
Yes there were a few sports teams and a monthly free bar.
