The Role
I had an amazing time during my internship. The job was even better than I had expected.
The colleagues were very friendly and treated me like an equal, with as much respect as they did with others.
I was given full support in order to deliver my tasks on time and satisfactorily. The colleagues always take the time to walk you through the work you are assigned and are happy to help when you get stuck.
I was kept relatively busy everyday although a few days towards the end did get hectic which was the perfect way to get a feel of how it is to work on important projects and tight deadlines.
The tasks I was given varied in responsibility but they mostly ranged from moderate to important.
During my internship at Arup I built up on my existing knowledge of the track industry and of transport links. The internship helped shape my interest in this field and I find that it suits my goals, hence I aim to specialise in Railway Engineering.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was friendly and they make you feel at home right from the first day.
The internship was very well-organised with well-defined tasks for each day.
The firm and the team did their best to give me jobs I would be able to do but would also build up on my competencies and improve my skills.
The future employment prospects look quite good once you have done the internship as the contacts you have made keep in touch with you and are happy to recommend you when you apply for further roles.
The Culture
Everyone is friendly to each other and many of them do hang out with each other.
The cost of living and socialising was very reasonable
I was in the city centre so the social scene was very vibrant
Yes there are opportunities to match every interests- be it sports, social, arts etc
