The Role
I anjoyed my time with Lloydspharamcy as it gave me a real insight into the dutis I would have in the future when I qualify as a pharmacist. Learning with a company as big as Lloydspharmacy is was also a blessing as it gave me the opportunity to see how it runs it's day-by-day business.
The team I worked with were very helpful with queries that I asked them about, however at times I did not feel that they were very approachable - however this can be attributed to the fact that they all had many duties to get through on a day-by-day basis in a very busy branch. Nevertheless, I enjoyed working with them.
My pharmacy tutor was very helpful in showing and guiding me through the duties that how I and he were required to do. He was also very keen to give me advice for the future at any opportunity he could, which was all very useful and will be invaluble once I qualify as a pharmacist.
The branch I worked at was very busy and I was always required to do something. On the rare occasion that the branch did become quiet, I would find a task that needed to be done. This would help lessen the workload of my colleagues as well as help me maintain and develop skills.
I was given enough responsibility as I was legally allowed to given. For example, I was not qualified to do MURs or any clinical tests e.g. Diabetes check, however any tasks that I were qualified to conduct, I was given the opportunity to do so.
Very much a great experience for the future and hopefully I will be working with Lloydspharmacy very soon.
The Company
The branch was often so busy that it meant everybody had to be getting on with their job so their was little time to really engage in fun activity or conversation. Nevertheless, I did find the work side of things fun.
I was well handled throughout the application, interview and placement stages.
I think that Lloydspharmacy have certainly invested in me by giving me this opportunity alone. However, as the discussion with my Area Manager and the appraisal with my pharmacy tutor was all positive, I am hoping that they will continue to invest in my future by offering me a pre-registration place in West Yorkshire where I can continue to develop and repay the company by hopefully working with them full time upon qualification.
As mentioned above, appraisals and discussions with senior members of the organisation were positive and gave a good onlook towards the future.
The Culture
I met and keep in contact with a number of students that attended placements with Lloydspharmacy. The development day that we were required to attend was useful for the social scene.
It was pretty much similar costs as I have always been use to so no realy suprises or changes.
I worked in more of a residential area therefore travelling out of the area was necessary for social events.
The team at my branch did organise meals and events that they would attend together occasionally.
