The Role
The placement program done at JLR was very structured. The activities were very challenging but we had the right support of the engineering team. I felt myself as an important part of the job.
The plant of Halewood is quite old, so people there are used to work in their specific manner since ages. They were very friendly and opened to new ideas, but I would say that there was a gap to overcome these old habits. But nothing major to act as a barrier.
My supervisor was a very busy person, as any other supervisor in industry. But I can't complain about his attention and guidance. Talking to other interns, I saw that this aspect varies a lot.
All the time! There is always something to do there. And this is the best part of being during so few time there: you can still learn a lot.
I undertook two projects for my division, and with I had total freedom to act like a common engineer.
The experience of being in a manufacturing plant is priceless to someone who wants to work with it in the future.
The Company
The office atmosphere is very friendly, I actually made good friends there! We went out a few times, and we always keep in touch. They are always in a good mood.
The kind of internship at JLR varies a lot: there are many kinds of jobs that you can be. But I would say that all of them are relevant and respect a minimum level of quality.
I had some training dedicated to skills involved in my projects. The time spent on training was very good, considering the short term internship. For those who stay for the whole year, this point is even better.

In the first day they make sure to tells us that they are interested to hire us in the future, if we perform well during the internship.
The Culture
As we were located at Halewood, we were in a quite small group of 10 students. However we managed ourselves to see each other and hang out. I would say that for those that are located at Coventry, this social scene is much more active.
Liverpool prices, cheaper than in the south.
Liverpool rocks!
