The Role
Greatly enjoyed it. I was fortunate to work across 3 high profile areas within the company with large exposure to business's future starategy.
As I progressed through my placement I felt more and more that my contribution was of use. I believe that in the end I created value for the company.
Very active support given when time allowed for it. I picked up a lot of valuable skills-for-life.
It was a high pressure and high reward environment. I fully enjoyed the urgency that went with it.
A lot of responsibility across different business functions. Sometimes I wasn't ready for a particular role but this was precisely what allowed me to grow. 10/10 on responsibility and impact. If you are prepared to make the best out of your placement you will be allowed and supported in doing just that.
My role and responsibilities I had shaped my future career plans and defined a much clearer personal direction. Things I learned and skills I picked up will be invaluable in any future professional endeavor. The caliber of my CV increased hugely directly as a result of my 15-months placement with Jaguar Land Rover.
The Company
I was part of 3 different teams. The atmosphere was one of support and focus on delivering best value for the business at all times. Socially, there are outings / team evenings organised from time to time with your immediate team or your wider team. You can also organise something yourself and everybody will be sure to participate and appreciate your effort.
Very well organised. Compared to placements other students have had (in many industries) mine was incredibly well conducted and I was allowed to take it where I wanted to make the best out of my time in the company.
The company has made no distinction between me and an experienced hire at all. I was allowed to participate in all of the same amazing training opportunities and to study for professional qualifications as seasoned professionals in the field. Internally, if your supervisors agree, it is possible to get involved with different business functions to further your interests during year-long placements. Training and development is of truly top quality tailored specifically for your role and business need.

Subject to your final performance appraisal you can be offered a permanent job with the company. The company is interested in developing a long-standing relationship with its interns.
The Culture
Students and graduates maintain continued engagement. Everybody lives more or less within the same area around Royal Leamington Spa / Coventry which makes for an excellent social setting.
Specifically about cost. It is down to personal choice but the residential area around Leamington Spa is known to have elevated rent rates and generally much higher cost of living than neighbouring areas. Equally it also is a very nice area to live in. Surrounded by university campuses it is a middle point between several company sites. Good public communication links.
I lived in Leamington Spa. An area with very large concentration of pubs and clubs. Nightlife setting is as good as it can get outside of centers of 3 biggest cities. It is a place of choice to live in for thousands of students and industry professionals. If you are not a nightlife partying type of person that is also fine since residential areas tend to be very green and quiet. Nightlife happens mostly in the town center.
There are numerous sports / activity clubs for company professionals. Also corporate social responsibility events are something you may be interested in getting involved with. JLR maintains very close and positive relationship with local communities where it operates.
