The Role
Excellent placement. Able to get fully involved with all projects my team were working on and was given the opportunity to do a few 'mini placements' within departments I was interested in.
Felt extremely valued by my team was given a lot of responsibility from the very beginning and a lot of support roles on current projects. Regular meetings with team members on a weekly basis to discuss my placement and how I was getting on.
Was given full support from management and supervisors. Worked on a number of projects working closely with line manager and senior management. Always made time to catch up with me and was able to get support from supervisors whenever needed.
Was extremely busy from the very beginning however would discuss my workload with supervisor during weekly catch up so if I felt I could take on more work he would find projects for me to get involved in or if workload was getting too much would help sort that out as well.
Was given a number of projects which I was the lead contact for and were real projects with major impacts on the overall business. Also has the chance to support a number of import projects as well.
Working in such a fast paced team environment I had to learn exceptional time management which will assist greatly in returning to my studies and when returning to graduate positions. Was given the opportunity to improve my presentation skills through out the placement as this was an area I felt I needed to improve.
The Company
As it was a relatively small team I was working in everyone was very close and got on extremely well. Was a great atmosphere to work in.
Could have been more organised. Things like training programmes and induction should be organised before starting was only able to attend one training programme as availability was extremely low during the 12 weeks I worked there. had to wait a couple of days to get my laptop and longer to get required software and landline set up.
In terms of training courses wasn't able to attend many as the availability was extremely low during my 12 weeks. The team I was in took an interest in wanting to know what I wanted to gain from my placement and made every effort to help my improve and achieve my goals.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Manager approved for me to return on the graduate scheme after my final year and received an offer for the graduate scheme depending on hiring approval for next year
The Culture
Most of the interns stayed together in student halls so was always the opportunity to get involved in days out and nights out with other interns. Everyone would go out at weekends together for drinks etc.
Relatively cheap to stay in Student halls in Coventry although not the nicest of areas.
Lots of student bars and kasbah!
Graduate network organise loads of events which undergrads can get involved in.
