The Role
A great company to work for, would have only liked more exposure to the engineering side of the company.
Was provided with important tasks and felt as though my work was very appreciated. I felt treated like a full time employee.
My supervisor provided me with 2 weekly slots to update him on my project and pastoral life at the company. They made sure that I felt welcome and was provided with all of the support and training I needed.
There were a few occasions where I was pushed for time or left with nothing to do, but they were very brief as my manager would always make sure I had the correct amount of work to be getting on with even when he was away on holiday.
As mentioned above, I was largely treated as a full time employee and given fairly important tasks. I was given a project to manage myself for the duration of the placement. I was also entrusted with sensitive information during my time there.
I gained many skills in project planning and time management that have been helping me very much this year in planning my third year project and will be very transferable throughout my life. It was also good to experience working life.
The Company
Friendly people. A definite mantra towards integrating and networking people between the different departments.
I was provided with a long term project at the beginning and given clear instructions on the training required. Other work was always there for when a task from the main project was delayed.
I was sent on training days for use of software, tours of a factory, prototyping workshop and design workshop, and provided with e-learning courses. I also had access to £200 towards personal development outside of work. However I was not in an engineering role so no training in this area was provided.

Looking forward to hearing back about a returning placement. Would definitely take another placement and would strongly consider work there after university.
The Culture
Large group of other placement students. JLR organised discounted accommodation near Coventry university where most placement students stayed allowing for easy socializing and lift sharing. We organised activities after work with other placement students. Colleagues in my department organised meals for birthdays and leavers, seemed to be other social events too however none during my time there.
JLR had organised discounted accommodation. Coventry was a very cheap place to socialize.
Only one club that we went to in Coventry, however it was very good and very cheap. Other nightlife nearby in Leamington was good. Nice pubs and bars close to accommodation.
£200 provided towards personal activities by the company. There was a graduate/undergraduate society, which organised activities, however they weren't very common so had to organise our own activities other than that.
