The Role
The whole team is very supportive, and I got familiar with the job very quickly. Moreover, they allow space for creativity, respect my idea, and willing to help me and guide me to complete the task with my idea. The team provides valuable feedback in what is right or wrong at the first place. I really learnt a lot from the internship.
My colleagues respect my idea, and allows me to be creative when handling tasks. They encourage and be serious about how and what I do, and guide me on the right track. I got feedback immediately if something went un-expected or difficulties happen. At the end of my intern, they pushed my work into production, and will re-use it on day-to-day basis. It is very different from what I heard that intern's work will never be used.
I received a lot of support from my manager. He is a director, and normally very busy. However, he was willing to spend one or two hours almost every day after 6pm with me to go through what I did and what I learnt today. I was almost be hold hand by hand to complete tasks. Moreover, he also assigned me a mentor and a desk buddy, they answer my questions whenever I need.
As working at the Front office of an American Bank, I am busy every seconds. But the tasks are very exciting and challenging, and it kept my attention by nature. However, I did have time to go to toilet or get a cup of coffee. Moreover, we can make appointment with seniors and have a break to have a chat at any time. Sales and market side working hour is quit standard. No overnight.
I was provided with tasks one after one, and at the end, all of them made up of a big project, and pushed into production. I did almost 80% of the project myself, and it is an important project as well. What surprised me is that they treated me seriously, provide a lot of support, holding me hand by hand and allows me to be creative in the whole thing.
The skills I learnt are widely used in almost all the major banks, and very transferable. It is a perfect experience that I can practice what I learnt in the university in real world and solve real world problems. It makes me more clear about what is important in the textbook, and what I should focus on for specific job in my future study.
The Company
There are a lot of interesting people. Most importantly, everyone is very supportive, and willing to help interns whenever I have any trouble. It enables me to works closely with other teams to complete my project, and learnt other stuff from different desks. Seniors are willing to chat with interns, and let them have big picutre of the whole industry.
Everything is well arranged. We received training, social, senior talks seamlessly. Desk buddy and manager provide clear guidance, and arrange interesting tasks that suits the intern’s strength. Moreover, each intern was assigned a mentor, who helps the intern with networking. Feedbacks are given at on-going basis and almost instantly. At the end, interns give presentation, and feedback.
The firm heavily invest in intern's training and development. The whole internship is essentially a training programme. We received three days off-desk training on financial product. We can also make appointment with seniors and chat with at any time. Moreover, each intern has a desk buddy, mentor and manager. Desk buddy helps intern with any question in the work, manager supervise intern's work, and my manager actually spend hour talk with me every day no matter how late the day is. And the mentor helps the intern networking with other desks and seniors.

I was encouraged by almost every one I met to work here. As the bank is really a fine bank, and there are a lot of supportive and interesting people around you. Moreover, in the day to day jobs, you feel being challenged, but also comfortable because everyone is willing to help and you can always find expert in certain area you are working on.
The Culture
The firm organise presentations at my campus, and there were representatives from different desks as well as interns to tell us their experience and what they do. It made me very clear about the firm, and the business they do before even applying. Moreover, interns who complete the intern and students who want to apply can also getting to know each other though the campus presentation.
Thought the firm is at central London, but I found a one bad room with very reasonable price around. The address is close to St. Paul, and I rent a one bed room near Barbican. The costs if you eat out is standard. Importantly, the firm provides free dinner after 7pm every day, even for interns, it saves me a lot.
There are both clubs and quite place around, depends on what you prefer. The office locates at central London, and it almost walking distance to anywhere in central London. Moreover, three different gyms are nearby, so you will never got bored if you live and work there. The environment is superb!
During my intern, the firm organised marathon and city walk challenge, and allows everyone in the firm (including interns) to attend. It was very fun activity that you can both connecting with your colleagues and relax at the same time out of the office. It enables me to know almost everyone in the bigger team.
