The Role
My placement was overall very rewarding and enjoyable.
I had a good relationship with the colleagues in my department.
Despite the fast paced nature of manufacturing operations, my supervisor still gave me enough guidance to make the most out of my time at JLR. He was happy to let me experience other areas of the company such as visits to other sites and training courses. This in turn allowed me to have a greater understanding of the business.
My schedule was a good balance of office and shop floor work. I was always occupied at work but never had too much where I could not handle the workload. I was given the flexibility to plan my own daily schedule as long as I met my targets each week.
I felt I was given a great deal of responsibility during my placement and not treated just as a temporary intern. There was a lot of expectations and I felt I was an integrated part of my team. I had projects to manage individually myself and delegate tasks to colleagues. At the end, I felt I have contributed to the team and to the company.
I think the experience I had at JLR has given me a great deal of insight into the company. My role in the company has given me the valuable knowledge which will assist me in my later career.
The Company
The nature of manufacturing operations meant my colleagues were constantly around the shop floor. But in general the atmosphere was nice and everyone is happy to help whenever you have questions or problems.
