The Role
It helped me learn a lot for what I wanted to do in the future.
I felt like I could ask any of them for help and would like to feel that they felt the same way.
I had regular meetings with my manager to discuss my progress.
At the beginning of the week it was generally busier, which i enjoyed, but towards the end of the week sometimes the work was too slow for my liking.
I was trusted to conduct stock counts, serve customers and advise them on their healthcare, which I feel is a big responsibility, but the pharmacist was of course overall responsible.
Drugs sold over the counter had not been covered in my university course so I feel that I learnt a lot about them and will need to take those skills with me into my future career.
The Company
Everybody was very friendly and we were able to have the occasional joke without it getting in the way of our work.
The placement folder was very helpful in giving me tasks to complete and I could set my own timescale.
I was given no individual training but did not feel this was necessary as I was exempt from completing NVQs required to be a dispenser part way through my pharmacy degree.
I would definitely consider them if I went into community pharmacy.
The Culture
There were no other placement students.
I lived from home, but Canterbury being the nearest place for socialising is quite expensive for a university town, but not extortionate.
Herne Bay night life is poor, but Canterbury is a little better (20 mins away)
I don't feel like the size of the shop and the time i spent there warranted any activities outside of work so I don't feel this was necessary.
