The Role
A challenging placement that stretehed my own skills as we as developing others. My project was engaging and interesting, however I might have liked to have other, different tasks to complete during my time.
Everyone in the division was very friendly, and often we shared lunch breaks across the team. Any member was very willing to help me with queries, especially my dedicated supervisor. I would perhaps like to have spent more time finding out what each person did in order to ask specialised questions of them.
I had excellent support from the management, my line manager was available for questions and more senior managers also made themselves open to my questions.
Fairly busy, but had time to spend attending external seminars and events that interested me. Able to work reasonable hours without feeling that I would fall behind.
My project was quite defined and therefore I had a little less freedom to decide where it went, however as I got used to the material I felt able to make decisions and shape the project myself.
The skills I developed are entirely relevant for not only my final year at university but also going into economic research in the future. The presentation training I received was also useful.
The Company
The atmosphere was very work driven, which is necessary in a place of work. I personally enjoyed the fact that everyone got on with their work. At times it was more relaxed and people could enjoy each others company.
A very well organised internship, particularly within the division, I felt HR could have been more organised, especially over training requirements.
I think the training I received was well directed and useful and made me a better intern to have at the Bank. The time that my supervisor spent with me was invaluable.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
I would be delighted with a job offer, however due to the nature of the work, I will need to complete a Masters first.
The Culture
Really nice group of people to mix with, and we spent most lunch times together. Also went for drinks after work on a regular basis.
I found it expensive, however I think this is due to the comparison I am making with university campus prices.
Seemed reasonable with plenty of places to go out, particularly pubs in the area.
The only opportunities I heard of voluteering wise, were more directed at full time workers. However there were quite a few. The gym and classes were all available to interns.
