The Role
The experience was very beneficial and the work I did was enjoyable, however there was a lack of work for me to do, despite my best efforts to find some, which became boring at times
Comments during my placement and since I left have made me feel like they very much want me to return, however my lack of experience - still being a student - meant I wasn't able to help to the extent I'd have liked
My manager was always willing to answer questions and get me involved in meetings and jobs etc when possible. He would go out of his way to try and keep me busy.
Some weeks were non-stop which was great, yet others the entire department was quiet and therefore I wouldn't have much to do.
The nature of the department meant I was unable to make final decisions, however I felt my opinion was valued and carefully listened to.
The professional skills I learnt will be invaluable throughout my life. The technical skills have already helped in my degree in the first 6 weeks back at university.
The Company
Everybody was very friendly and welcoming.
Company-wide the placement is well thought out and planned, however the department didn't have enough work to keep me busy which led to me arranging mini-placements with other departments.
There is a large array of training available both on the intranet and in workshops. As an intern you decide what you want to do.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
I have been offered a job for when I finish university, and have been promised a place in my first choice department.
The Culture
The company provides many platforms for networking with the other placement students, it's up to you what you do with them.
I travelled 3 hours a day from my university house, however JLR offer free coaches from several nearby cities.
I can't comment having not lived near the area.
I was made aware of a few sports teams you could join.
