The Role
My placement wasn't stressful and I learnt a lot however I didn't find it particularly exciting.
Everyone I worked with was very friendly but the only people I became real friends with were fellow interns.
A lot of the time I was left to do things by myself but that's how I like it. If I needed help I could get it.
I spent a bit of time bored as I had completed work and hadn't been given anything else to do. I didn't feel stressed though.
I was given my own pieces of work to do and deadlines. I was also involved in organising various activities
I didn't develop any skills relating to my degree however I learnt a lot about how to be professional and how things are done in a work environment.
The Company
People were polite but as people moved around a lot and desks weren't permanent there wasn't much of a community atmosphere.
Before the internship started there wasn't very much information. The internship isn't particularly structured as you just join a project and start working but it was well organised and there were clear points of contact.
I had to learn to use a lot of software and was given tutorials to do it. There were a few opportunities for training but most learning was on the job.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
The actual work I was doing wasn't particularly interesting but there are other areas of the company that I could see myself working in.
The Culture
We organised regular social events but as lots of interns were staying at home there wasn't as much partying as I would have liked.
London is expensive but you can find some reasonably priced places.
The nightlife in London is amazing but I didn't get to enjoy it much.
There were a few activities such as the film club but not a lot.
