The Role
Exceptional, and far beyond any possible expectations.
Team are extremely friendly, helpful and approachable.
A 'buddy' programme assigns one mentor for the duration of the entire internship. This is an extremely useful way to ensure someone is always at hand, for the 'silly' questions and issues.
I always had plenty to do, but never felt I was unable to handle the workload.
Due to the nature of developmental projects, the strategic direction was determined at my discretion, and as such provided a high level of responsibility.
This internship is reflective of the ideal experience which encompasses the soft and hard skills any professional in the city requires. It will definitely enhance my ability to perform in both academic and career progression.
The Company
The current office itself is slighly aged, however, as of late August, BlackRock in London will have moved to a completely new building, which will be reflecting the true nature of the organisation.
Close to impeccable, except for technical issues with an intern portfolio competition, which undermined its purpose to some certain extent.
This was one of the most surprising aspects! I always received the necessary attention, and assistance when required. Whether this was a few minutes here and there, or several hours at one go, I never felt lost. Ample time was dedicated to me especialyl during the first few weeks, where my mentor was practically tutoring me on a 1 to 1 basis for several hours a day.

Rather appealing.
The Culture
Definitely. The laid back nature of employees makes this very easily possible. Fridays were highly casual, with colleagues often leaving early, to enjoy a relaxed evening in the local pub.
Socialised in an area closer to where I lived, but the area around the office was quite decent as well.
Took advantage of nightlife elsewhere, but it is relatively active in the Bank area nonetheless.
The firm often had social, networking, sports, volunteering and other ongoing events. Aside this, because work hours typically end no later than 19.00, it is possible to get engaged in pasttimes.
