The Role
I did really enjoy the placement, however there were quite a few times where I was left alone with other peoples jobs to do as well as my own.
The other members of staff were really thankful for my help, and they really made me feel part of the team.
Our manager left half way through my placement and we were very short-staffed so we were left with no manager and no one to take over her job.
The Pharmacy was an extremely busy store, what with being very short staffed as well, you never really got a break. But atleast the day went quickly!
I was given quite a lot of responsibilty - the same as people who had been working there for years and had had training. One day I was left in charge of the dispensary, although this was quite overwhelming, it was a great exeperience, one which I would not have missed.
I feel I learnt a great deal during my placement and I certainly will use these skills in my pre-reg year and in my future jobs.
The Company
Although busy, people were generally in a good mood.
The placement was not very well organised at all, I wasnt sure when my interview was going to be and I found out on the day that I was having it! I wasn't told when I would get any feedback from the interview, which was over 5 weeks ago now and I still haven't heard anything. My pay was also delayed due to managers not setting me up on pay roll properly.
I carried out all the training activities in my work book and asked the pharmacist when I needed help. They made sure I had enough time to cover what I needed to do.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Altough the interview was unexpected, I feel it went well - so I am waiting to hear back for a pre-reg offer. They have offered me work in the holidays.
The Culture
There were no other placement students nearby.
I lived at home so didn't have to pay for accomadation, but I travelled there everyday by train which cost £5.70 a day.
There wasn't any!
No, because I lived about 45 minutes away from the work place.
