    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did really enjoy the placement, however there were quite a few times where I was left alone with other peoples jobs to do as well as my own.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The other members of staff were really thankful for my help, and they really made me feel part of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Our manager left half way through my placement and we were very short-staffed so we were left with no manager and no one to take over her job.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The Pharmacy was an extremely busy store, what with being very short staffed as well, you never really got a break. But atleast the day went quickly!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibilty - the same as people who had been working there for years and had had training. One day I was left in charge of the dispensary, although this was quite overwhelming, it was a great exeperience, one which I would not have missed.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I learnt a great deal during my placement and I certainly will use these skills in my pre-reg year and in my future jobs.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although busy, people were generally in a good mood.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was not very well organised at all, I wasnt sure when my interview was going to be and I found out on the day that I was having it! I wasn't told when I would get any feedback from the interview, which was over 5 weeks ago now and I still haven't heard anything. My pay was also delayed due to managers not setting me up on pay roll properly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I carried out all the training activities in my work book and asked the pharmacist when I needed help. They made sure I had enough time to cover what I needed to do.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Altough the interview was unexpected, I feel it went well - so I am waiting to hear back for a pre-reg offer. They have offered me work in the holidays.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were no other placement students nearby.

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so didn't have to pay for accomadation, but I travelled there everyday by train which cost £5.70 a day.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There wasn't any!

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No, because I lived about 45 minutes away from the work place.
