The Role
So far I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It has been both insightful and exciting and I hope to enjoy the remainder.
Every colleague has been friendly and helpful. During audits I have felt like a key member of the team, right from the start.
My manager has always been at the end of the phone/email if I have any queries. The buddy system has also been a great help, with any smaller queries being answered by a lower member of staff.
Depending on whether I was on a job or in the office depends on how busy I am. If I am on a job it can be long, busy days. However if I am in the office it depends on available work.
During audits I have been given responsibilites over particular sections which has pushed me, both to work harder and to take ownership.
In reference to my degree the skills will be hugely useful on the quantitive side, as well as general time management skills. Beyond my final year, the skills I have gained should help me on the road to becoming qualified.
The Company
The general atmosphere of the office is friendly but busy.
Initially there were minor issues over training, but apart from that it has been very well organised (with a busy calender).
I felt the firm invested a large amount in my development considering I am a placement student. I have been on multiple training courses and more are scheduled for the future.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Future employment prospects are very appealing currently and I am hoping to return to the firm.
The Culture
The social is good when people are in the office together. However, due to the nature of work colleagues are often very dispersed. Taking this into account though, all of the staff social days have been well organised and enjoyable.
I currently live in Manchester city centre and it is a really nice, safe area. In terms of cost of living it is reasonable (much cheaper than London) and has a good range of bars and cafes.
The nightlife is excellent in the area I work, with expensive 'business' bars nearby and other bars within walking distance.
The work has activites such as Yoga and Football top get involved in. The firm also supports any new ideas for activites.
