  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was made to feel extremely welcome and learnt more than I could ever have asked for.

  • 100%, by the end of the placement I found colleagues were recommending me to other member of staff.

  • If I was unsure of anything, I was guided / managed by my colleagues every step of the way; if I didn't need help I was left to my own devices.

  • The placement was very well balanced.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I wouldn't say I was "running the show" but I was pleased with the responsibility that I was awarded.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed lots of life skills that I otherwise would have had to pay a lot of money to develop.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I loved the atmosphere, there was plenty of "banter" amongst the staff while still maintaining a can-do attitude. Everyone at Arup love what they do and they are very good at it.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well organised, I was assigned a supervisor on day one that I could go to if I had any queries.

  • Not very much, although I was allowed spare time to teach myself software.

  • I have already accepted an offer of employment and will be starting in March 2016.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The scene was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost was fairly non-existent, I joined various sporting groups and didn't pay for a thing.

  • The nightlife wasn't crazy although with did for drinks a couple of times.

  • I worked outdoors surveying for protected species on most days.
