The Role
I had a great time learning a new skill and solving interesting problems in a lovely environment.
I was always conscious that I knew very litle about programming but no one else seemed to mind at all and were always happy to listen to me.
My manager always had time for me, even when I had many stupid questions.
I always had work to do and, within reason, you are able to work at your own pace.
I took a bit of time to learn the basics but once I had I was put on fixing problems or writing code in software that was being sold to customers.
I have learnt a new skill that will be useful ver often in the future and got valuable experience of life in a working environment.
The Company
Everyone was happy, free biscuits, cake on birthdays, weekly pizza. The works.
Very slick, they have much experience of this. I was given a development plan and had weekly meeting to check my progress and a seemingly undless list of tasks prepared for me.
They spent weeks trying to teach me several new programming languages and ran weekly education sessions on the company.
Company Parties/Events
A lovely, interesting place to work
The Culture
All together in company subsidised housing creates a good atmosphere
Subsidised housing made it very cheap. Prices otherwise were normal
Edinburgh is a big city and so there is oppurtunities to do whatever you want.
The company organises (and pays for) several social events over the summer.
