The Role
I felt that the internship was a really productive way to spend my Summer. I was given a good insight into the industry and I learnt a lot. During the process, there were networking events, training sessions and I received continuous feedback.
I felt valued by my colleagues. When they could, they gave me tasks that were suited towards my skill level. When they were completing more complex tasks, I was able to attend meetings and shadow them.
My colleagues and HR were always willing to provide advice and guidance. Everyone is very approachable.
I had a good balance between having tasks given to me, and having time to shadow colleagues and sit in meetings.
I always had close supervision with the tasks I was completing. I felt that this was good as it meant I was able to ask a lot of questions and have exposure to the most experienced people within my team.
I feel that the internship placed a huge focus on learning and development. We had weekly "lunch and learn" and "hot topic lecture" events. We also had regular training sessions, covering a variety of themes (from elevator pitches to presentation skills).
The Company
The office atmosphere was very friendly and collaborative. People were relaxed and very approachable. Everyone would always know how each other's weekends had been.
The learning and networking sessions throughout the internship created a good structure to the internship. I felt as if I was continuously building upon my skills. The internship concludes well, with a presentation and a review (both an opportunity to seek feedback).
At the beginning of our internship, we had 3 days of classroom training. Throughout the internship, we had weekly "lunch and learn" and "hot topic lecture" events. There were also plenty of networking events to attend.
Company Parties/Events
If you perform well in the internship and are on track for a 2:1, you are likely to receive an offer for the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Every Friday the interns would go out after work and every lunchtime we would meet in the canteen. I feel that the intern class bonded very well.
Average for London. We did manage to find a few intern-friendly areas around the City!
There are plenty of bars and clubs in the area. The clubs weren't as popular with my intern class.
There were opportunities to take part in a 5K run for charity and tag-rugby. There were also a lot of social events organised by the interns themselves.
