The Role
It was a great insight into the business itself and how professional working environments operate in general
The small team i worked in treated me as if i was a valued member of the team, giving me important roles and always offering help when needed
Even though the team was so small, there was always someone there to help when needed. I felt enough information was given to me at the start of a project so i was able to complete it without needing extra help. However if extra help was needed they would always make time to offer guidance
There were some days when my work load seemed too busy and some when it seemed i could be doing more, but not often. As long as i paced myself effectively, there was always work that needed to be done
I was given real life projects in which i lead meetings with various levels of engineers including managers and also represented my department in some meetings.
Definitely beneficial and I'm exceedingly happy that i took the time to gain experience at Jaguar Land Rover
The Company
One of the aspects of the internship i enjoyed the most were the people i worked with. They maintained a professional behavior whilst also being approachable and also had fun. The office was large and open plan which made communication between each department that were located in the office easier
After the first week in which was spent as more of an introduction to the plant and the people i'd be working with, i was given a couple of long projects for me to work on throughout the 3 months which were clearly set out and the aims and objectives were obtainable. Further to this, i was told i would be given smaller projects to do throughout my internship which were also well thought out and acceptable to give to an undergraduate
I was given the opportunity to attend multiple different training courses that are for JLR employees

During the placement you are asked if you would be interested in a full time job after your last year of university. If you are interested then in the final week you have a review with your manager and supervisor to determine if they think you would be eligible for a job there. If they recommend you then you may get a job. The more you put into the placement, the more you'll get out of it
The Culture
There were a total of 12 placement/internship students on the site which i was working at. The socializing aspect was organised by the students themselves and Jaguar Land Rover did not have any input on it. However we would meet for meals and drinks, using a Facebook group as communication
I found it relatively cheap for what was given. The prices were very similar to what i expect from my home town and to my knowledge, not many places offer cheaper accommodation and food. The site i worked at was situated next to an outdoor shopping center which allowed for cheap meals to be bought from the supermarket.
The nightlife in Liverpool was probably the best that I've ever been too. There are countless bars and nightclubs in the city center, ranging from sophisticated bars, to cheaper bars depending on what you would rather do that night. There are always plenty of people around too due to the city being so large.
The city itself offered many different activities that could be taken advantage of and to assist with locating these, my supervisor and manager, who were both from the area, gave me plenty of information as to where they are located and what to expect. Their recommendations definitely helped me enjoy my time at my internship even more
