The Role
It took a few weeks for me to be given work, but once I was it was really good.
It was good to know that the work I did was actually beneficial, and colleagues actually valued my opinions.
Everyone was really friendly and keen to help me and talk to me about their experiences.
Some days I would be really busy and other days I would have very little.
I was given responsibility on the tasks that I was given- noone food speeds you!
The experience was really valuable as now I know what its like to work in the investment banking industry and what skillset I need to flourish.
The Company
It was quite quiet, but everyone got on really well and there was a lot of joking about at times, making the environment a relaxed one.
HR graduate resourcing were really good, and created a calendar for the interns and put on events etc.
The company set up a weeks training prior to actually starting the internship programme and we also had to complete excel training and training on the investment banking industry.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Within Finance, the interns make up quite a large proportion of the graduate intake for the following year.
The Culture
All the finance interns went out every Friday, either to bars or for dinner. It was really good to get to know people in a social environment as well as a working one.
I lived at home so zero cost, but drinks in bars are fairly expensive. Thursdays are the cheapest days to go out!
We never really went out clubbing, but there were a good array of bars.
HR put on a lot of events after work so we could gain further knowledge. If you become a full time employee there are more opportunities such as joining sports teams and networks etc.
