About You
Having the opportunity to spend a week at Hogan Lovells was an invaluable experience. While there I learnt very much about the culture of the firm and also what the the solicitors and trainee solicitors do on a daily basis. Everyone at Hogan Lovells were very friendly and approachable. They answered any questions we had and they had prepared some very useful skills sessions which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed the mock interview sessions and also my time with the trainees.
The staff at Hogan Lovells were very friendly and welcoming. Specially Michelle Ruddle, who very kindly arranged everything for us. While doing work experience at Hogan Lovells, I felt very welcome by all the staff. They made me feel like I am part of their firm and part of their team. They helped me in as many ways as they could and provided me with some very useful information about the firm and about the legal sector.
The whole week was packed with useful information. While doing the work placement, I had many chances to network with staff at Hogan Lovells who were at different stages of their career. Everyone I have met have provided me some very useful advice and guidance about applying for training contacts and about working at a law firm such as Hogan Lovells. Having the chance to spend some time with trainees at diffent departments allowed me to find out more about what their trainees do and also allowed me to ask them questions about their training contracts and their application process.
The skills I have developed at Hogan Lovells will help me at every stage of life. For example we worked in groups, which developed my team working skills and we gave presentations which helped me developed my confidence and presentation skills. Hogan Lovells very kindly arranged for us to experience being interviewed through mock interviews. This was a great opportunity because I have learnt what to expect at interviews for training contracts. Furthermore, sessions on application and interview skills have also increased my knowledge and allowed me to learn how I could increase my chances of making a successful application for a training contract.
The Company
The structure of the week was great. We got the opportunity to know the firm, to meet its staff and also to develop skills at different skills sessions. We also had an opportunity to spend time at two different departments and had the chance to meet people in those departments. By the end of the week we got the opportunity to work in groups and present to our peers and staff at Hogan Lovells. I think it was very well structured because through out the week we were given confidence and skills and by the end of the week we felt part of the firm and presented very well.
It was great. All the trainees and other staff seemed very nice. The building was amazing. The skills sessions and workshops were full of of fun and information which I enjoyed learning about. We have had opportunities to speak to staff over lunch which was very nice because we have met different people everyday and got the chance to speak to them about the cases they worked on and the process they have been through before starting work at Hogan Lovells.
They have invested a lot in us. Spending a week in a big international city firm like Hogan Lovells is not something easy to experience. The firm prepared many different activities and workshops for me and the other students during that week. They helped us to learn as much as we could to be able to make applications to them and to other firms. They gave us the opportunity to meet different people everyday and learn about the firm. They made me feel like they want me to apply to them with all that they provided to help us stand out of the crowd.
Spending one week at the firm was a great opportunity. I have leant a lot about the culture of Hogan Lovells and also about their work environment. I got the opportunity to see and feel how it would be to work in a big international firm in London and what opportunities are available at those firms for business minded students like me who have a passion for becoming one of them. Spending time with trainees in departments such as intellectual property allowed me to see what the trainees do and what is expected of them while working there.
Spending one week at the firm was a great opportunity. I have leant a lot about the culture of Hogan Lovells and also about their work environment. I have leant that the staff at Hogan Lovells are very friendly and approachable. They are very professional, however every member of the staff are very friendly and fun which makes the environment very nice. They are diverse and they are prepared to welcome anyone from any background who fits within their culture.
Before doing the work experience at Hogan Lovells, I was already interested a career in a commercial law firm as a commercial lawyer. Spending the week at Hogan Lovells has increased my interest even further and helped to experience working in the city. It has elped to see whether working in a city firm was for me. I very happy to say that I do indeed like to work in a city law firm such as Hogan Lovells.
Everything Else
This was arranged through pathways plus.
There were a lot of opportunities to meet staff at Hogan Lovells. For example we received talks from associates and trainess. We have the opportunity to talk to the graduate recruitment staff and trainess for lunch and in the workshops. We also spend time at the with trainess in different departments where we had the chance to meet other members of that department and also network with trainess in that department.

Yes there are many things that the employees at Hogan Lovells take part in. For example there are many different pro bono works that they do where they go out help charities and give legal advice to them. They also have sports team and other social events which employees take part in.
Yes I would. Anyone who is part of the pathways plus will get this opportunity and I would certainly recommend them to take the opportunity. They will learn a great deal of information during the week. They will have the chance to work in such an amazing firm and also get the opportunity to network with different people who work there.
