The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed working at Caterpillar
Felt very valued as I could see the work I was doing was adding value to the business and contributed to various projects.
I was given the right amount of support with desk reviews with my manager and was also assigned a buddy.
During the first 2-3 weeks of the month I am usually busy completing month end processes and analysis. However after this I had some spare time depending if I was on any projects that were time demanding.
You are given a huge amount of responsibility straight away and are expected to get on with various tasks at once.
Time management and balancing my focus on work will transfer back to uni
The Company
Office is generally lively with the focus being on work but also lots of conversation.
Placement seemed very well set-up with a clear defined role and tasks that I had a responsibility to complete.
Straight from the off we were provided with multiple training sessions regarding the company and different programs that we would be using. As well as this we got to pick out some specific areas to receive training on.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would consider a role within Caterpillar in the future however probably at a different location as I would prefer to be within a city.
The Culture
There are lots of events between placements/graduates that you can attend and there are also work nights out with the department.
Accommodation was a lot cheaper (£325 a month) than I had been paying at uni and generally everything seemed to be cheaper.
Nightlife wasn't great however I was going back to uni a lot to see friends so didn't experience it too much
Yes, lots of organised events including sports and various activities.
