About You
I found the insight week extremely useful as it gave to an all round insight into the vast array of different departments in a large company such as Mace. We were exposed to directors and the CEO of the company so we were able to get information from those with a variety of experience in the industry.
The fact that many directors and the CEO took time out of their busy days to come and speak to us made me feel very valued and as though the company genuinely values all of their employees. From speaking to graduates at Mace it was clear that they value given their employees exposure to a variety of experiences to ensure they get enough exposure in the industry.
Throughout my entire time at Mace, there was always somebody on call to answer my questions, whether it was somebody from human resources or a director, there was always a friendly face nearby to help me with anything I didn't quite understand. I found this extremely useful.
From my time at Mace, it has motivated me do well in the remainder of my degree studies in order to be able to get myself to the standard of the employees of Mace. This is because they displayed that if you work hard it will be rewarded and there are many success stories within the company that display this.
The Company
I feel as if it was very well organised by those in human resources. All of the speakers arrived on time and had a clear structure to their talks with us so overall I was very impressed. We also went on a site visit which was well planned with regards to train times and arriving at the site on time with the relevant people on site being ready for us when we did arrive.
Around the entire office there was a really good atmosphere amongst all employees. It was clear that everybody was happy to be there and was enjoying what they were doing everyday. The HR team also made sure that there was a laid back atmosphere with the group at all times in order to ensure we felt comfortable during our time with the company.
It was clear that Mace are a company that are consistently pushing their graduates to better themselves and they will provide the appropriate training if you show the ambition to better yourself and ask for Mace to support you.
My time at the company made it clear to me that I want to be working for a company like Mace on some of the most exciting jobs in the world.
The culture was something that every employee at Mace had a clear understanding of and implemented into their work every single day. This is one of the main reasons I thought Mace stood out compared to their competitors.
It gave me a much clearer idea of what I want to do when I graduate as we were exposed to such a variety of different speakers from within the company.
Everything Else
Very generously Mace paid for our travel to and from site when we went on our site visit. I thought this was generous of them and made a big different in assisting in financing the week as it was unpaid but this still made a big difference.
Mace's HR team were consistently encouraging us to network with a variety of people within the company in order to build contacts in the industry but to also gain an insight into peoples experiences and possibly learn from their mistakes.
I did not experience any social events in my short time with the company.
They made it clear that there are regular social events such as football matches or charity events to get involved in. All of which provide really good opportunities to network with various different people in the industry.
Definitely. I thought that the week was invaluable and gave me a really good idea of the avenue I want to go down in my career. It also reassured me that there will be opportunities to swap if I find I'm not completely happy going the job I am doing.
