The Role
For the most part I have really enjoyed working at GT. There are always some moments that are less interesting than some, but on the whole my time here has been very interesting, rewarding and I have learnt a lot.
On the whole I feel as I am an valued memeber of the team. If I wasn't here take on wouldn't get done.
I have been given ample support by both my peers, management and supervisors. At all stages they have been very approachable and ready to volunteer advice or help. Even those not officially responsible for my development.
The work of an M&A associate comes in peaks and troughs. Some weeks are intensely busy and we are needed to stay late, followed by weeks of less busy where we can leave at usual time. I am never without work to do during normal working hours however.
The responsibility given has increased exponentially. At the start little was given, it has gradually built up as we have become more intergrated into the team and have proven that we can deliver a high standard of work.
Whilst there is no direct relevance between my placement and my degree, the work management skills, critical thinking, presentation, people skills, team work skills, working under pressure and more have all developed.
The Company
Very enjoyable. When there is lots to do everyone gets their head down, but the atmostphere always remain light and fun. The social side of work is very active.
There are definitely improvements to be made. However largely the structure remains successful. Key to the programmes success are the opportunities to grown and develop both within the firm and more generally.
Hugely. I will have completed around 3 weeks of training during my time at GT.

The culture and the job offering are excellent. The work is interesting and the graduate scheme is well rounded and engageing. However they do not pay enough to remain properly competitive.
The Culture
The social scene has been totaly self made. The firm has not contributed to the placement social scene. The relatively low number and sparsity of the locations of placement students has meant that the placement social scene is relatively low key.
Very expensive. Its central london!
Nightlife is fantastic. Excellent bars in the near vacinity and there are plenty of decent clubs when needed.
I am playing hockey for the firm and have been to several careers fairs. The firm offers many but it is up to the invidual to take advantage of them.
