The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at EY. I felt i was given a lot of responsibility and that the work I was able to do really gave me an insight into the department. It was not a admin, i was able to work on drafting proposals, thought leadership and also able to partake in many projects.
I felt really valued by most of my colleagues. People are very open to explaining where you work fits in and the rewards system in EY is noted by many managers and they do reward you for tasks.
I felt I could talk to most managers and supervisors despite their rank. Most are willing to answer any small question and prefer when you ask. If you feel you cannot ask someone, other colleagues are always willing to take time and explain in detail for you. This really changed my opinion of big firms, where I thought I would be very apprehensive to ask questions.
I think that I was very busy day to day but that was because I sought out many extra opportunities to make the most of my year. The working hours though were mainly 9-6 and were not bad at all.
I was given a lot of responsibility in my placement. I was able to draft and work on major proposals thought leadership, was given opportunities to talk to clients and attend partner meetings.
I feel that mainly I have gained confidence in the work place and have faith in my abilities to be part of a high performing team. I feel however that I did not really use my degree.
The Company
Everyone is super friendly! There is a real team atmosphere within the work place. Working in project teams is fun and you get to know so many people through working with different managers.
The placement was very organised. We had training weeks, placement events and trainings that were very different throughout the year followed by great socials. The teams knew that we were available to help and we were really integrated into the departments
You could attend as many trainings as you wanted and some were mandatory. Coaching is a big part of EY and everyone is willing to take time to help you. There are online wbls that you can do in your pare time, even ones on excel or good business writing skills.

Got a job offer. I think most people doing a placement did, if not all. There is scope to move around and also ask to move areas if you want to.
The Culture
Yes however due to the size of our group there could have been more events to socialise everyone. But in the first week, there were many great socials and throughout the year there was effort made to get everyone to connect.
I lived at home so was saved from the expenses of London life. Socialising could get expensive in London so it was hard to always organise something.
