The Role
My placement was the best working experience i have ever had. It helped me come across with so many company functions, countries, people and cultures. I gained so much experience and i really enjoyed my time at Eaton, every day i wanted to wake up to go to work the next. If i had to chose again Eaton for my placement i would.
While working at Eaton i never felt like a student there, more like a colleague i would say. The amount of work that they hand to you gives you the ability to actually find out from first hand what means to be an employee at Eaton. During my placement i felt that i was already working there for years and people respected me and the knowledge i had to offer during meeting and on projects.
My manager was actually the person to whom i actually owe this experience to. He was amazingly helpful and supportive. During my placement i came across with some health issues and the support that my manager provided my with on personal and professional level was outstanding considering the fact that i was just an intern there. My manager helped every-time throughout my placement with material and knowledge that would help me come across issues during my day to day work.
Actually i was really busy, i was really lucky to be handed in on of the most important projects of the site. Which is an experience that some people don't come across even after their graduate programs. I was responsible not only for one project but actually i was working in multiple functions to provide support in matters of electronic issues regarding Eaton products.
As i described before i was project manager and project engineer of one of the biggest project at Eaton's site. I was communicating with India and USA site's of Eaton to collaborate the sources given to me to meet projects milestones. Also i was responsible of redesigning a major component of one of the most profitable products on site.
As a 4th year student i have my Honours project now and the experience i have gained from my year at Eaton regarding project management is was is making me now take control of my project. Due to the experience i gained throughout my placement now i can include all the skills i have gained and apply them to my every day aspect of my university life.
The Company
The atmosphere was pretty great it wasn't a strict environment, i felt very friendly i was having conversations with my colleagues and we were exchanging laughs during break.
It was pretty organised i didn't felt that there was something missing, there was always support given to us when needed from the people responsible for the program.
I have to say that Eaton with multiple development programs throughout my placement year invested in me like i was a permanent employee. We were having almost every month a training from the placement program to give us knowledge and skills that will help us during our placement year.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Very appealing after being a successful candidate at Eaton placement there was a chance that you would be given an opportunity to come again as a graduate student to Eaton Leadership program.
The Culture
There was always interaction with my colleagues from the placement, we would always go out after training and socialize at work and afterwards. It was a really good experience throughout my placement.
The cost of living and socialising was pretty cheap from my point of view i was living at private halls but the rents were pretty low. Also social activities didn't cost that much and that meant that there was always time and money for more.
NIghtlife was pretty good but only during the period that students were there, because Loughborough is pretty quiet during summer were no student are there.
Yes i was most of the time invited to my managers house alongside with some other colleagues and we were socializing there most of the times.
