The Role
I greatly enjoyed my internship, and found that I was trusted on projects straight away. The hours were sociable, and I felt I was able to trust my colleagues to give me appropriate work. The office itself was a nice environment to work in, and getting to and from work was not too time consuming.
Colleagues were very grateful for any help, and were very thankful for the work you did, and were happy to review what you had done, and if any work needed to be amended it was thoroughly explained and people were very understanding of why a mistake may have been made.
My buddy and Mentor were both very supportive and very approachable, I felt I was able to approach them about anything and that they were willing to help at any point. My senior manager was also very nice, and took the time to get to know me. I felt comfortable asking the people I was working next to for any technical help or assistance.
Naturally, there was fluctuation in how busy I was, but generally I was kept fairly busy and I was able to take time on my work and learn more about what I was doing. However, it was during August which is naturally when less work takes place. I found that my friends working in similar companies had the same fluctuations in their working.
I was given responsibility to do the initial stages of the work, but I felt I was supported, and that it was checked well. I felt I was given the appropriate level of responsibility, some of the work I was doing was being published on EY's external websites for potential clients to view so I was given a fair amount of responsibility.
I feel that I am now more efficient with my work since I have left, and I have adopted a much more organised approach to my work, and I have realised that I am able to do more during my days. I now try to structure my days, and allocate specific tasks to specific time scales, so I am able to achieve more.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very friendly, although people did work hard. Nevertheless, people were very welcoming and happy to invite you to lunch and any other social events that were happening. I felt able to chat with the person I was sat next to, and able to form friendships with my team members.
The overall induction process was very well organised, although it could perhaps be shortened. There were opportunities to get involved in a number of different facets of the business, and there were opportunities to meet senior colleagues in other departments. There were also very prompt replies to any emails or calls that were sent.
The company invested a lot of time, and there were a number of inductions where we were introduced to the business, and the different service lines that were present in the company. There were a number of other training sessions that were available, however, as I was there for 6 weeks I was not able to go on many.

Working from home
I feel optimistic about my future employment prospects within the company. I feel as though I will get a great deal of support, and that I will be able to maintain a healthy work- life balance in the future. I also feel as though many of the friendships formed with other interns will be useful when I start working.
The Culture
There were a lot of social events amongst interns, and these were often arranged informally. People were very friendly, and often there were a number of drinks being arranged. We often went for lunch together, and I was able to meet a large number of the other interns during my 6 weeks there.
I did not live in the area that I was working in as I lived at home during the duration of my six weeks, so I'm unsure of the cost of housing etc. However, things were fairly expensive in Canary Wharf, and drinks out were quite expensive. However, I would say that they are fairly standard for London prices.
The bars and surrounding areas were quite busy and lively on week nights, as there were many offices nearby. There were a large number of restaurants and bars in the surrounding area, so there was a great deal of variety to choose from. There were also a number of nice restaurants where you could go to lunch during the day.
There were a number of ways to get involved in activities outside of work. There were a number of other sports clubs, or other activities to get involved with. There was a social networking page where all the details could be found. People were also very welcoming at these different clubs and societies.
