About You
The whole insight day was well organised and well thought out for all of us. I attended the EY Future Ready event in London which was for 100 undergraduate students. Throughout the day we had talks from various professionals about our brand image and how to get a head start in the workplace. The whole day was fantastic and as a result I made a good few friends from various universities.
From the beginning I felt that EY valued our time and our appearance at the event. From taking our coats at the beginning and having a speech from one of the partners, we really did feel like we were welcome to be there. Within the talks and the workshops, our talent and passion was utilised and actively encouraged
Throughout the event we were encouraged to chat to other members of staff from various levels in the company. After the main event we had a chance to network with everyone and all the employees were approachable and seemed genuinely interested in all of our subjects and us ourselves. If we had any problems we could ask and not feel pressured for asking any stupid questions.
From all the talks we had I've learnt how to improve my brand image, offline and online. I also received talks from how to conduct myself in interviews, both in person and on the telephone which was incredibly helpful and insightful! The workshops relating to presenting and LinkedIn were the most valuable as those were the skills I wanted to improve on and I felt that the EY day allowed me to do so!
The Company
We had a structured timetable for the whole day which worked well. At the beginning we had a welcome talk, and then we had four workshops which varied in style and content. We had breaks in between and were given lunch which was a nice touch. After all of this we had a talk from a partner and then were free to network with EY staff, our professional speakers and each other. Overall, it was a very enjoyable structured day!
Everyone was excited and ready to get involved. We were split into smaller groups and rotated around the talks which was nice as we got to get to know each other in a more personal environment. The networking at the end of the day had such a good atmosphere and we got to "let our hair down" and enjoy chatting to everyone on more casual level.
The insight made me realise that the company culture at EY was work hard, be rewarded hard, but also one that is very supportive. Before the insight day I did not know that the company culture was so the insight day definitely helped me with this. Definitely recommend it for an insight into professional services culture.
Towards the end with the networking and speech from the partner, I realised that EY seemed like a really well intended company with the support to allow my career to grow. The content of the day made me realise what it was to be a professional and how it was to actually be confident in yourself and release the skills deep inside of you
Everything Else
As previously said, the networking afterwards was well received and really successful. It made me see how employees were really are and let us show our personalities to EY. It was also nice connecting with professionals and fellow students as we all were chosen because of our passion and drive. EY provided refreshments which again, was above expectations and really resulted in a fun and relaxed networking event!
Definitely would recommend EY Future Ready or any EY events to a friend. The ability to network, and learn, at the same time is something that should not be passed on. Especially with the support and networking opportunities EY can provide. It's definitely worth applying as I feel that my work and future applications have benefited from what I have learnt from that day.
