About You
It was a thoroughly worthwhile experience for several reasons - I met lots of like-minded people, but more importantly, seeing the inside of the EY offices and meeting their employees was useful. We did a simulated consultancy activity, which gave me a feel for how it could really work.
They certainly made us feel welcome, and it was all set up well, so I never felt like I was a burden to anyway by being there.
A good level, but not so much that I didn't have to make my own choices. If the placement were a bit longer I'd have more to say here!
The information I received and the knowledge I gained of the industry and EY specifically will certainly prove useful in the future. Again, the length of the placement prevents me really being able to talk about any really useful skills being developed, but the knowledge I gained certainly made it worthwhile.
The Company
Very well structured - as previously mentioned, there didn't seem to be any point where we didn't know what we were doing, and the time was filled with interesting speakers and worthwhile activities.
Very good - friendly, welcoming and generally something that I would like to do again, and also something that makes me inclined to apply for further internships/jobs with EY.
The placement was not really long enough to comment on this.
It helped me to understand how the office works and what the people are like, but it was too short to see how it is over an extended period of time.
I think, on the whole, it was useful in this respect - we met lots of people, and took part in activities overseen by people at many different levels of the business.
It certainly makes me intersted in EY's services, and more specifically made me interested in certain individual areas, so I have more of a handle on what to apply to in the future. I don't think I've fallen in love with the sector by any stretch, but it was helpful in general.
Everything Else
I seem to remember the allowance for travel and a hotel was £150.
Yes - we had graduate mentors who spoke to us about their experiences, but also got to speak to slightly more senior people who could tell us different things. This mix allowed questions to be answered in different ways, giving a deeper insight.
Generally well-structured, and well organised given how short an amount of time we were there for!
Yes - they gave us an overview of the graduate scheme and its activities, as well as personal development and what EY encourages its employees to do outside work.
Yes; on the whole it was useful and gives me a better idea of how EY works as a firm as well as how that particular industry works.
