The Role
I found the experience with EY to be very rewarding and I learnt a huge amount. Although I had applied to a single service line, I was able to work in five different service lines across my internship, which further developed my understanding of being able to add value across service lines. Throughout the process I was given as much support as I required and the feedback I received was invaluable to me.
Although only on the internship for six weeks, I was still able to have an impact on "real-life" work and given responsibility to do so. My understanding entering was limited but I was taught very well by the team around me and I hope to have produced work to a sufficient standard as a result, and valued accordingly.
My Buddy and Counsellor were both instrumental in enabling me to make the most out of my time with EY. I was able to work in a range of different service lines in a range of different locations, but this was engineered by my Mentors so that I could make the most out of my time. Throughout the process I felt that everyone was very approachable and willing to assist me in anyway that they could.
Busy. I rarely, if ever, had nothing to do. In order to try to get the best, most diverse, experience I could I tried to get involved in as many projects as I could. As a consequence I had plenty of involvements and enjoyed the challenge of optimising my time to get it all done.
Due to my limited technical knowledge and the client facing nature of the work/industry, the level of responsibility I was able to undertake was always, to some extent, be limited. However, as previously mentioned, I was able to get involved in a range of different activities and each time responsibility was placed upon me - including client facing work.
The ability of being able to effectively manage time better will certainly help me in both my degree and beyond. Additionally, I have made many significant contacts during my time in the company and with the skills I have also learnt these will help me invaluably moving forward.
The Company
I think there was a balance in the atmosphere of the office. There was opportunity to interact with the team around you and have a laugh, but the importance of the focus on work and the quality of what was being produced for clients also of paramount importance. It was an environment in which you worked hard, but still opportunities to interact with the team around you.
I felt that it was very well organised. Everything from the Introduction Week to the CSR Day to the bulk of the Internship was engineered very well and enables a smooth and structured experience. When traveling around the country, a lot of the traveling arrangements were down to myself to arrange, but this comes back to the idea of responsibility and time management.
The training opportunities and the generosity of the team around me with their time meant that I felt the firm invested a huge amount into me. I was able to have direct interactions with very Senior people and Partners and learnt a lot from these people.

I think with the size of EY and the scope within the organisation, there future employment prospects are phenomenal. Before entering the company, I had a general understanding as to what was on offer, but in fact the breadth of roles within such a large organisation, both domestically and internationally, was much broader than I had ever anticipated.
The Culture
During the Introduction days, the social scene was great - with events organised every day and night. It has let me develop some strong friendships and professional links. During the internship I attended events both with my other interns and wider office based events which was good to meet people on a more informal basis.
The area I was in was quite expensive relative to some other areas, but I was aware of this going into the Internship.
Really good. A nice balance of pubs/bars and nightclubs.
Directly linked to the Internship I didn't see a huge amount apart from the socials.
