The Role
The staff were amazing and made me feel welcome. My tutor was so supportive and taught me so much during my placement and allowed me to complete any additional tasks i desired.
The shop was understaffed due to holidays and sicknes and i was able to contribute immensley during the placement, whether it meant allowing staff to go on their lunch breaks while i covered in the shop or in the dispensary or whether it meant i stayed in the shop to allow the staff to make up trays.
My pharmacist tutor was exceptional. She taught me throughout my experience and allowed me to complete tasks and discussed my performance, improvements and also specified the importance of each activity.
I believe i was more busy than expected due to staff shortage however i applied myself to the greatest extent so that i could to make the most out of my experience and therefore i believe i was very busy. I had to take my workbook home to complete tasks due to being so busy at work.
I was always given assistance when needed but i believe i had many responsibilities such as when we had locums i had to complete the methadones as no other staff members present knew how to complete the lables. I also did the EXRX for the next day and completed counts.
I think my tutor really improved my knowledge and allowed me to put my current knowledge into practice. I was able to learn things from in the dispensary and in the shop
The Company
The short-staffed issue i believe put pressure on the staff but overall the atmosphere was good
I think it was useful having a manager in the shop because it allowed for there to be a member of staff who could deal with any complicated issues that arose from a nursing home to which we supplied trays
I had a training day and also was provided a work book to which the pharmacist heavily enagaged in with me which was exceptionally useful on the clinical sections.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I have received an offer for pre-registration placement.
The Culture
I had a training day however i did wish it was more clinical based.
I lived from home
