    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall I very much enjoyed my work placement with Deloitte, the people I worked with took me seriously and were friendly and helpful.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All the teams I worked in treated me as equal and I was given real tasks to complete. There were no menial tasks such as making tea or filing paperwork.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All tasks were carefully explained to me and if I was struggling with anything I only needed to ask and it was explained again.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I made myself quite busy by carrying out work efficiently, and it didn't go unnoticed. It is by no means an internship where you can coast along, you are given plenty of work and it is expected that you can perform at a good level.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the same responsibility as would be given to a first year graduate and this is quite a large deal. While some things are reviewed by managers, I was entrusted with a lot of tasks that were important to completing the job for the client.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There was a large level of attention to detail which is key in auditing for a client - teamworking is also a large part of the job as audit work is carried out by teams. These will certainly benefit me in the future and be highly relevant to any job I do after graduating.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in a range of different offices as the client changes every so often depending on which team you are booked on to. In all offices the atmosphere was very professional but everyone is friendly and eager to help you out where you need.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This is the one thing I found issue with when it comes to my placement. The recruitment process was very well organised but once I had confirmed my placement all further information was very jumbled and delayed and it took HR a while to fix the problems so I was left unsure what was going on. During the placement some IT issues occurred and made it difficult for me to log my hours and use the Deloitte mail service. In terms of the placement itself I was always booked on to teams and the managers and associates I was working with were aware I was coming and always had tasks for me to complete so it was great. So I would stress that while I had some initial issues, these were all sorted and weren't a problem in the end.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given a basic level of training to teach us how to use the IT systems and how to carry out the basics of the audit software, referencing our work back to the general system. As it was only a short internship I didn't expect to have lengthy training and the training we received was more than adequate for the tasks I was given.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered the opportunity to return to the company as a full time graduate (which I have accepted!)

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone was friendly and we had the occasional lunch and drinks together.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living around London is always expensive but as I live there it wasn't personally too bad.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has great nightlife! Very expensive though

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As i was at the company for such a short time there wasn't a great deal going on at the time but I know that there normally is for full time employees

    4/5
