    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy the work placement. However, I found that the pharmacy I was placed at was incredibly busy. Hence, I didn't get much a chance to learn as much as I could have.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They treated me with respect and were willing to help me when I had no idea of what to do in certain situations.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They did try to help me when I got stuck and when some situations were beyond my handling, they intervened and helped me to sort it out.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The pharmacy was extremely busy as it was in the middle of two surgeries. So I had to learn as I went along.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • After spending about 2 weeks, I was left to do a lot of things on my own without being supervised by anyone.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have gained are very beneficiary as I believe they will help me in the latter future and most especially with my degree as I'm going to my second year and the kind of training I have received will be what most of my 2nd year will be about.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Workers were funny and active atimes. But lack of motivation from the pharmacy manager at that store left them wanting atimes.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Although I had a booklet, there was no structure to my learning as I had to learn on the go due to the pharmacist not having enough time to spend with me and show me the ropes.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Providing me with a folder was very handful as it helped me to ask questions and allowed for me to do a lot of research especially on the case studies.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would like to still carry on with a summer placement at Lloyds next year. However, at a different location, nearer to home.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were no other placement students where I worked. It was just me. I think it'll be handy to at least post 2 students at a place. Someone they can relate to as most workers at the pharmacy were of age.

    1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I had to travel to my place of work from home and it cost about £25 for a travel pass per week. I was posted in the very small town of Towcester so there was no chance of socialising.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As I said earlier, Towcester is more of a village than a town, so there was no such thing.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No opportunities. Just work and home. As I had a while to travel back and plus, I was always so tired after each day of work. But I guess that's all part of it.
