The Role
The project I was given was highly interesting and was a good opportunity to see where the company was trying to go but also to the extent it was pushing itself to try new technologies and be willing to test them before others may have done.
All the employees are very helpful, friendly and supportive to the project we were given. The scope of the project somewhat seems like most people may already know a large amount about it due to them working on or around the subject for several months, although in some cases it seems those that are more specialised may never have come across the whole picture; and thus we can something to teach/inform them.
Excellent support and guidance. Although everyone is highly busy they seem to find time often enough to ask my group and I how we're doing and how we're feeling about the project. The group members around us too are very patient and helpful when asked any questions making it a much more enjoyable experience working in the office.
I've not yet felt entirely bored but do feel quite busy as the placement comes to an end due to the multiple deliverables that must be handed in/completed. However, this I think is equally down to slow progress early on in the placement. The work load we were given was not small but seemed of good size tro motivate us to work hard and efficiently and push us past our comfort zone. This in my opinion is overall good as it gives a more meaningful work experience.
Enough was given. The nature of the project doesn't demand much "running the show" but it was up to us in most cases to begin setting up meetings and talking to other employees oin subject matter relevant to our tasks.
Although mainly research based the placement I think will help very much for my following years of study. It's helped in improving me in researching and digging out the information I want to find and being more patient in finding and collating that information. Additionally, my communication skills have improved also through the need to talk to and discuss the subject matter with other employees.
The Company
In general theres enough life in it to not always be too much of a distraction but still lively and not completely dull. it's mostly a nice enoguh atmosphere; although the lighting in the office is quite dull and draining. It's too yellow!
The organising of the project was seamless and has been fine. The parts that show a lack in oprganisation is mainly to do with personal protective equipment (PPE) problems. Although we initially filled out forms declaring what sizes of equipment we'd need, these forms seems to get lost or were completely ignored. As such when it came to finding PPE for site visits the process was difficult and more complicated than it should be. The store cupboards never had the right size stuff or were out of the equipment necessary. this could be improved upon.
Investment of time was perhaps the most. Other than that it wasn't neceesary for much more. It's difficult to really rate this as I never felt its ever been a problem. Training wasn't necessary for my tasks.

The graduate scheme which I automatically get put into assessment for seems very appealing and I will definitely go for that. I've very much enjoyed the placement on the most part and will apply for their graduate scheme.
The Culture
A couple of site visit were set up for us as a whole which was good to keep in touch with other placement students. However, the ease of communication through the work email and calendar bookings allowed us to organise our own events too and kept us as a tight and friendly year of interns.
The cost of living in my area was more expensive than I was expecting but I'm used to worse so it was acceptable. As I was being paid anyway for the placement living costs became more acceptable. Socialising was easy and good due to the close proximity to other interns but also because I living in a shared house.
The nightlife has been fine from what I've seen of it. There are some very nice places to go to which throw some funb nights; and all relatively close to my accomodation.
There were multiple opportunities; many which we took. Paintballing, go-karting, boat hire, swimming baths etc are naming a few of the ones we did.
