The Role
The Internship was very well structured. Apart from the on-desk technical learning, there were ample opportunities to take part in team-building events and training. Needless to say, I enjoyed it a lot.
The team was very friendly. From my first day itself, I was made feel welcome to the team and treated as a part of the team. I was assigned the tasks as per my level of understanding which is fair enough.
My team and the manager were quite good on supporting me to enhance my technical understanding and general development needs. I was clearly assigned the tasks to be done and was genuinly helped/supported when the need arised, even though the team was immensely busy at times.
It was really a good balance and depended on me, how much I wanted to push myself. As, I finished the tasks through, I was assigned another task which means that I was fairly busy but at the same time not juggling between various pieces of work. This was good and allowed me to understand things better.
In terms of responsiblity, I very much contributed to the team as a integral team member. I took on projects which will have definitely added real value to the team and helped them automate processes by developing a tool.
In terms of skills, the technical skills which I have learnt are the ones which I will cherish throughout my career. I have developed both as an individual and in terms of my technical skillset. It definitely provides me a much better overview of how things work in an enterprise but most importantly I'll come out as a more confident individual
The Company
The office environment was vey lively. Everyone was good at their work but light jokes could be heard at all times. the general atmosphere was very welcoming and calm.
I think the placement was well organised and there were regular out-of-job events/workshops which were good learning. Everything collaborated together to provide a super internship
The company invested quite a bit towards our personal training. Ranging from Bloomberg to online learning, there was a whole range of learning tools and events put in place to enhance financial knowledge and to cater to individual needs.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
The future employment prospects are quite alright. Interns can be fasttracked to a graduate role on basis of performance which is quite fair.
The Culture
The social scene was very lively. Being based in the city, Interns regularly went out for after-work drinks. Also on weekends, many of us chose to party out together.
Central London is known to be expensive, but overall it was suited to the pockets.
Personally, I didnt participate as much but as I pointed out there was a good number of night clubs and bars around the workplace.
Yes there were many opportunities outside work like, teambuilding events, city tour etc.
