About You
The insight was a fantastic experience. It was great to meet like-minded students from all across the UK. EY put a lot of effort into the event and it was definetly worth it.
EY really made us feel valued at the event. They prepared a list of great staff speakers who gave us insight into what different roles at EY entail. They even took us out for dinner at a nice restaurant after the first day!
During the activities, staff from the EY London office were always available to ask questions and share information. In addition, EY student recruitment staff were always available to answer any queries we may have had.
The information and skills will undoubtedly help me as it showed me how the theory I had learned from my course was put into practice in a modern business environment. The information will also assist me in choosing which service line I would like to join in the future.
The Company
The event was structured fantastically. There was a fantastic mix between guest speakers and practical activities. This ensured nobody lost focus during the day. It was definitely the best structured insight I have attended.
The atmosphere at the event was fantastic. There was a great mix of people from all over the UK so it was great to meet new people. The vast array of activities ensured a vibrant atmosphere which was great to be a part of.
The firm invested a lot in all of the Discover EY participants over the two days. They ensured that there were staff members who were willing to share advice and tips during certain exercises and talks. The advice and feedback from the presentation on day 2 undoubtedly helped me going forward.
During the talks and exercises everybody learned a lot about the different roles available in EY. All staff welcomed questions about what jobs in their differing service-lines entailed. This gave us all a better idea of what a job at EY would involve.
The event gave me the impression that EY was very much a people orientated business. When listening to what EY wants from a potential employee it became clear that numerical skills were simply not enough. In addition, there was great discussion of the ambitious 'Vision 2020' project.
The event has certainly pushed me towards a career in professional services. Speaking to staff, they all seemed to love working for their firm and their individual jobs. Therefore a career at EY is my new personal aim
Everything Else
EY put us up in the London Bridge hotel for the duration of the event. Food was also supplied.
There were opportunities to speak to employees after their individual presentations. This allowed us to pick their brains about certain issues we wanted to know more about. There were also opportunities to network at dinner.
The networking opportunities were good. At dinner we were able to speak to employees about their jobs in a relaxed environment. Maybe in future there should be more time dedicated to informal networking.
There was a brief chat at dinner where we discussed the different clubs available to be a part of. Maybe further discussions about this should take place during the event.
Absolutely. The event was structured and focused yet great fun. For anyone interested in a career in professional services, or just to find out what EY do, this event is a must!!!
