About You
My insight week was one of the most valuable things I took part in during my first year at university. It provided me with so much information about the firm, the roles available and the sector generally and the range of activities we got to take part in was really broad and interesting. The offices and staff were lovely and its somewhere I could really see myself working in the future, so the insight week really confirmed my interest in the firm.
I definitely felt like Mace took an interest in me as a person from the off because their was a formal recruitment process and telephone interview so I felt like they wanted to get to know me before accepting me for the role. Being able to spend time 1-1 with the recruitment team was really beneficial.
We were able to take place in workplace shadowing which was really interesting and beneficial. It enabled us to talk to recent graduates on a 1-1 basis about their experiences. In addition the other staff were available to talk to throughout if we had any questions about the roles or the firm generally, providing us with lots of detail across all sectors and all business areas.
I took part in the insight as a first year undergrad so the knowledge learnt I have been able to carry through to the second year of my degree and has helped to focus me in terms of where I want to apply for internships etc. The insight week confirmed to me my interest in the sector and as Mace as a company, their direction, vision and priorities.
The Company
The insight was really well structured through the recruitment team and there was clear definition to each day and activities to take part in that varied from team building, to individual tasks that tested your strengths as an individual and as a group. We had the opportunity to work shadow and also to visit two of the sites that Mace has recently worked on, one complete and one still in the project process, so we could see the work that Mace is part of every day and how they make a difference to the landscape of central London.
There was a really good atmosphere between everyone on the Insight Week, it was quite a small group so by the end we had got to know each other quite well. Everyone had an interest in the sector and industry but came from different backgrounds, so we all found there was something different we could learn from each other.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed for us.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend who had an interest in the industry.
