    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It is really really enjoyable since I have learnt a lot of skills there. At the beginning I thought the internship will be challenging and indeed it is, however, the working environment makes me calm down and I get used to everything quite quickly and settle down as soon as possible, which is much easier than I imagined.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The colleagues have shown full respect to me and they treat me quite well. They have put efforts into teaching me new skills since I actually know nothing to do once entered the company. Once I made a mistake, they did not blame me and instead of this, they tell me the correct procedure. I will definitely miss them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor is a nice guy and he is fun. To work with him makes me not so anxious. I mean you will find he is strict with everything but you will not be afraid of him, instead of this, you will respect him. He treats me well and responds to all my worries and questions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Much busier than I used to expect. I thought it will be boring and wasting my time to do internship in summer, while it actually turns out everything single moment is useful and definitely adds something to my life. Also, I make a good balance between my daily life and work, regards to the time management skills.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Not many responsibilities I think. The problem may be that I am still a beginner trying to learn new things while the company has to operate. Maybe at next step they will value me more and allocate more responsibilities that time. At this stage, too many responsibilities will over my limit and bring pressure.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I mentioned before about the time management skill, the whole day will be busy and you have make plan outlining what to do every day and what comes the first, what may be done in a later time. It is like our life, you have to make clear plan both long term and short term to achieve different goals

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The supervisor is fun but the atmosphere in the office.. what should I say, it is like that everyone has their own work to focus and the air is tight so you do not have too much time to make fun, but I can understand, weekdays are like that, busy and anxious.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would like to say it is very good in general and even if you are worried, you will find that if you follow step by step you will become quite involved as a part of the team. In result of that you will gain trust from others and be given responsibilities very soon.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They do not invest a lot in my own personal development. I should admit there is training but it is more like an induction training that would be given to every internship workers. Other than that, I have not received something in particular. But it is okay, you can learn by yourself very quickly.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not sure with this answer.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes I would say so. But if the colleagues can be more social and pay a little bit more (just a little bit more) to the people around them other than focusing on their cell phones, may be the environment will be much improved and makes people feel the sense of belonging much more.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It is not very high since I have found the internship near my hometown and the cost of living can be saved. But socializing is high, you have to be well prepared as the colleagues like to organize parties after work so you can not always bring nothing with you to the parties I believe.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not someone keen into nightlife so I did not pay attention to that.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No there are not, but if you keep seeking opportunities instead of waiting to be given some opportunities you will find it is not their responsibilities to allocate activities outside of work, although it will bring a sense of belonging and make the team working more fluent. But at that stage I think more efforts should be put into work.
