The Role
Going to client meetings and to Lloyds was especially interesting
People gave good feedback for the work I did. When particular policies were coming up for renewal, it definitely felt like I was an integral cog in the Aon machine.
My manager was very good at explaining any task he gave me. It meant I understood the wider issues and why I was doing the task in the first place.
Early morning (9-10) was too quiet, as everyone was sorting themselves out rather than giving me work to do. This situation was understandable, though not ideal.
It is always pleasing when the work you do is included in client presentations
This internship will give me plenty to talk about at any future job interviews. It has given me an invaluable insight into the insurance industry.
The Company
Good levels of banter.
Generally well structured with the 7 week project. The situation with end of internship interviews was not entirely clear.
It was on the job training, in that I worked on what ever my manager needed help with. I gained a good knowledge of some global clients.
Company Parties/Events
The starting salary is too low, meaning Aon runs the risk of missing out on the best graduates
The Culture
A great group of people
It's lucky this was a paid internship, as London prices are extortionate
Expensive, but worthwhile if you can afford it
The company allowed me to take an extra day off to do some charity work, and I also went to Snowdonia with my project group
