The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, I had a great team, learnt lots and felt I was really doing something of value.
My team were extremely friendly and welcoming. I helped a variety of colleagues over my time who were happy to give me work if I asked and give me a decent amount of responsibility. They all thanked me for my work which was really appreciated.
I had both a supervisor and a buddy - my supervisor was really helpful both with the work I was doing in the company but also helping me to think about the long term prospects of my career within property. My buddy was there to help me with any more minor problems I had and also always checked to make sure I had things to do or introduced me to people.
I was generally pretty busy on most days but didn't have to work any crazy hours. It was always best to busy though as you learn more and the day races past, it generally means you're enjoying it too. Towards the end, the pace of the work slowed down but generally it was good.
On certain tasks I was really encouraged to take responsibility in setting deadlines, liaising with other people and formulating reports. This was really great as you are able to understand a lot more about the work and I felt valued by my colleagues giving me the responsibility.
The skills are certainly of value in the long term as this is definitely a career I'm interested and if I go on to do a Masters in Real Estate it will definitely assist as well as the general business skills. I am currently in non-cognate degree but I think some aspects of it will still definitely be of use.
The Company
Really friendly team and always up for a laugh. Went on some good team drinks also.
The HR team organised the internship very well with various events throughout and were always on hand to answer any questions on emails/phone.
My supervisor and I met weekly to discuss progress and always gave me good pointers for development. We had a days training at the beginning.
Sports and Social Club
The internship is set up so that the application is longer and the internship itself sort of acts like a job interview so prospects are relatively good if you perform well. If I was offered a job I would definitely accept.
The Culture
We played softball most weeks and went out for drinks a fair few times after work. We also arranged weekly lunches amongst the interns so it was always a good time to catch up.
Its London... I lived at home so was lucky and you can normally find good discounts for restaurants etc so its not all bad!
Again, its London so you can always find somewhere good, depends what scene you like.
I played a fair bit of sport most weeks and also went for drinks and meals with my team and the other interns.
