The Role
I had a 14 months placement with Cummins and I have enjoyed every month of it.
The team was friendly and helpful with me. They provided all the support they could and always felt treated as a valued member of the team and not just a student.
My managers were very patient and always provided me with valuable feedback. I have been provided with all the training necessary and always encouraged me to go on trainings and do try new things.
I had instances when I felt like I'll never finish the work, but most of my placement I had just enough work I can carry and my team was always thoughtful and checked on my progress and if I require any assistance.
During my placement, the team was always supportive and trusted me to lead meetings, workshops and presentations. I was always felt tread as an equal member of the team and not as a student.
While on placement I have gained essential work experience in a real work environment as well as strong employability skills such as: organisational skills, analytical, Access and Excel and others. This experience has provided me with knowledge that I can apply back on my final year as well as it will help me secure a job easier after graduation.
The Company
I think ti depends on people, but in my office I just felt relaxed and comfortable.
the site that I was based in had a Student Development Plan that i followed and helped get to know the students better, understand the business as well as it helped me build my portfolio that I can use when I went back to university.
There were online courses available for all employees and also on site training on different subjects: improve excel skills, project management or others. My manager always sent me on all available trainings that I needed or requested.

Working from home
I loved the work policy that the company provides for its employees and I'll always consider going back and work for them.
The Culture
The other students on site were very friendly and we organised charity, volunteering events and went out off work as well.
Lived in a small town and it was easy to get to work as well as the rent was cheap. Was very happy with that as I was able to save money.
Depends who you go out with, but you can always go out on a nice dinner.
There was a sports centre in town and gyms available. As being in a new region I travelled around to see other towns as well.
