The Role
It was very good, they gave me a lot to do and my placement was split up throughout the year. My Line manager was very helpful with all of my problems and all me and my colleagues got along very well. We have regular team meetings to ensure everything is running smoothly.
I got along with everyone very well. We still keep in contact.
I was always given support at anytime from my Line Manager. He always held regular monthly team meetings just to make sure that we are all doing fine. He organised plenty of training programs for the new starters to ensure we knew the products and customers we are dealing with and the different departments in the company.
I had lots of jobs. They always kept me on my feet.
I had a lot of responsibilities and they respect you enough to make sure you are working fine unless there is an important deadline upcoming. Each different department managers gave me lots of work relating to the relevant department I am working for. I always ensured that my job was done as well as I could do it before moving onto the next job.
I developed so many skills during my time at Siemens with the many different teams of people I was working with. I developed and edited source codes for company software, built and maintain company servers and equipment’s and also regularly went to site to do hands-on work along with my supervisor.
The Company
All my colleagues were very friendly. Nobody refused to teach me anything and everyone was generally very happy to help out if they aren’t too busy. I often worked with another member of a department I was working for and during free time we would go out and grab lunch or just chill out.
The placement was very well organised and my line manager did as much as he could to keep us all in place. He always spent time planning our timetable amongst other things and tried to make sure we all had something to do. He also planned lots of different activities which are outside of work for us to relax and learn more about the company.
The company invested a lot in me; they bought whatever equipment I needed, uniform and shirts including a giant box of Personal Protection Equipment which has steel toe-cap boots and a few different high-vis trousers, clothing and helmets including goggles. They also made sure we all had a new PC monitor to do our work on and also had days out of the office to relax and learn some other things the company does.

I got a contract after my placement because I worked hard and showed I was very eager to return and work even harder for the company. You will get to go on a graduate scheme after you graduate and work at Siemens for 2 years. There are so many departments to work in that you will have a lot of opportunities to develop whichever skill you want. I would say the future prospects are very appealing.
The Culture
Yes we went to intern only events and had fun days out of the company. It was a very good experience. My colleagues would often go to the shops and have lunch together. We would all chat about what we liked and disliked and everyone liked to have a good laugh.
The cost of socialising was low but the town is very small and not convenient if you do not have a car. The nearest train station is in the town 20mins away from Ashby-de-la-Zouch so it is quite inconvenient. However if you do have a car travelling is very easy as it is close to the motorway and living costs are not high in that area.
The night life is good but nothing to write home about.
A colleague always tries to organise a social session every month for the employees.
