The Role
My inter-ship was taken in Nottingham office. I've spent a great time there. Besides of good work environment, nice colleagues, I also got precious experience.
As I'm not local people, but they treated me as others. We had meals together. People share goodies and interesting staffs.
My job manager is a really nice person. The work he give to me was not too much, and I've got flexible working time. When I met problems in my work, He helps me a lot and taught me a lot of professional staffs about my work. This made this inter become more valuable.
Not too much work. Flexible working time. Almost zero working pressure. and 7-8hrs per day including lunch and rest. This work stress made me feel comfortable and improved my working efficiency a lot.
There're few people to do the similar work as me. So I had strong responsibility of the work. I'm the main person of that part.
The work is the full application of the acknowledge I've studied. I've also learned how that principles in practice and our real life. Expect of professional part, the skills of group work, self study, time management are also improved.
The Company
Flexible, working hard, comfortable.
The internship was well organised. Not too much work, and not boring. It made you feel substantial everyday.
As my internship was not a long term one, I only participated some open seminars for the staffs there. But the good working environment, new computers, quick response when you have requirements, all of them are all the investment in me.
Arup is a really good company for your job decision. It is well organised, and you'll get a happy time when you work there.
The Culture
Yes, but not too much. People are nice there. You can get help from anyone if you ask. They're also happy to introduce you their works.
Not too much cost. You may need to spend some on transportation, but not too much on socializing. The cost of living in Nottingham is not too high. The work is enough to cover.
Some of colleagues will have dinner of tea/coffee of bar in Friday night. Not too much night life. Most of colleagues will go home after finishing their work of a day.
There was some activities I've heard from the colleagues. But my internship was not too long, I didn't joined relative activities.
