About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight week at Danone. I felt instantly welcome and everybody at the company was extremely friendly and happy to talk to me. The content of the week was very yseful, after gaining an insight into what the company is about and how it is really trying to make an impact to health I found really fascinating. The practice assessment centre proved really helpful yet challenging as I now have come away knowing what I need to work on in interviews in the future.
I did feel valued. Danone could not stress enough how important our role was as a Campus Brand Manager and really made us feel important in what we were doing.
During the insight there was a great deal of guidance and support, with talks from the different areas of the company and a question and answer session really allowed us to understand more about the company. In terms of support, we had briefings everyday about what was expected and when creating our presentation for the mock assessment centre we had a professional come in and talk to us and help us with any questions we were unsure about.
I really think the insight week helped me with the communication and presentation skills. Just seeing the other CBMs present, helped me understand the areas I need to work on and I really value this experience. I also feel prepared for when I have to do interviews myself as I believe I now know how to work in a team to discuss and present ideas.
The Company
The insight week was structured really well with the personality profiling to start, let us understand more about the other students we were working with. Learning early on about the company and its products also helped us fit in and know more so we were prepared for our assessment centre. One area I think could be improved was not having the CBM information day on the last day as throughout the week we were a little unsure as to what exactly our role was going to be as we were told very little beforehand.
The general atmosphere was incredible. Danone office is the most fun and friendly environment for working I have seen before. Everyone was cheerful and seemed to love working there, it really made us want to carry on with Danone. They also treated us so well with providing food and games that the whole week did not feel like work one bit!
I believe the company invested a lot in me during my time with Danone, through providing presentations so we could learn what it was like working in such a reputable company. We also did a mock assessment centre which proved really beneficial as it gave me the opportunity to understand where I need to improve on.
Yes, it gave me an insight as to what it would be like and it made me realise how important it is to be happy in the environment you work in. I had never imagined an office job to seem to friendly and fun and the atmosphere was something that I really liked about the company. I would have liked to find out more about the Nutrition graduate scheme and maybe speak to somebody about potential work experience there but apart from that I thought it was extremely insightful.
It did make me understand the company culture and that was something I really enjoyed about my week at Danone. The culture at Danone is something they are really proud of and I understand why, everyone seemed to be enjoying the jobs they were doing and having fun whilst still working hard and viewing the monthly company meeting really reinforced this fact.
The content of the week was really helpful. The first 2 days we found out lots about what the company did and the areas it had, and how it really makes a difference in terms of health. What specifically interested me was Nutricia, as I had never heard of it before and I thought what they do is really interesting. The mock assessment centre really benefitted me, I thought it was really helpful to understand what is expected in an assessment centre and I feel a lot more confident about what to expect in the future when applying.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed for all expenses during the Insight Week which was really beneficial as I had travelled a long way from Exeter. The hotel we were put up in was also really nice and this was very beneficial as otherwise I would've had to stay the other side of London, which would have made the commute quite tiring. In terms of payment, we have not yet received the vouchers but I assume these will come later once they are happy that we have carried out our role as CBM to a high standard.
Yes there were lots of opportunities to meet other employees due to the presentations from all areas of the company. When discussing and making our presentations for the mock assessment centre we had help from an employee in the company who really gave us an insight into what his job involved, which I found really beneficial. Everyone was also so happy to talk to you which made networking much easier.
The social event opportunities within the week were great as we all went out for dinner together every night, expensed by Danone. And on one of the nights we went for drinks with some of the employees from Danone which was really fun. In terms of networking, there was always a chance to speak to somebody new who did a different interesting job.
Yes we did find out about acitivities they can get involved in outside of work. In the monthly meeting that we sat in on they were discussing the bonus scheme, which is where they receive all expensed trips or meals if they reach a certain target. There are also annual trips for each sector of Danone which everyone there was really excited about.
I would definitely recommend the insight week to a friend as I gained so much from the experience and had such a fun week that it didn't even seem like work! Danone treated us all so well and really made us feel part of the company so quickly. I have already had lots of friends asking how they can get involved and be the next CBM because when I talk about my job they are really jealous.
