The Role
Insurance has its fair share of mundane paperwork, but there is a lot of freedom. I was able to get policies signed off by insurers.
Tended to get given awful jobs by some members of staff and far more interesting ones by more senior staff. All were very pleasant though, and were always very keen to involve me.
Sometimes too much. I'd rather have a go at something and go over it afterwards than going through the whole job with my supervisor as was sometimes the case.
Pretty good balance. I had a number of ongoing jobs I could be getting on with to fill in any gaps.
Great amount of independence and responsibility. Really enjoyed being given the chance to broke deals, regardless of how minor they were.
Great exposure to public speaking, and working as part of a nationally-spread team through the charity project.
The Company
Great atmosphere! The best place I have ever worked. People always had a sense of humour, and people really seemed to enjoy working there.
A few minor problems with organisation eg. asking us to start during exams but still very good overall.
One day of training related to my area of work, in addition to the time invested by the people working with me and explaining things to me in a less formal setting.
National Travel
There are certainly worse places to work. Good atmosphere, nice people, varied work.
The Culture
There were a number of events organised by the interns, including a number for people's charity projects.
It's London, what do you expect?
Didn't really experience nightlife as such, more just pubs and bars after work.
Not that I knew of.
