The Role
When I was given lots of tasks to do and had a busy day I really enjoyed it. However some days there was very little work I was able to do which left me feeling a bit useless!
Most colleagues were very friendly and happy to help me. They explained things well and kept telling me it was ok to ask questions! I was invited out several times for lunch and drinks after work.
Had a meeting with my manager half way through were we talked about my progress. As it is the summer holidays many people were on holiday during my placement, including my manager so I sometimes felt like I wasn't sure who I should speak to about things
For quite a lot of days I had very little work to do. This was because many tasks would take too long to explain and as I am only here for 8 weeks there was often no point
was given the responsibility to email colleagues in different departments and offices.
learning how to communicate with people in a professional environment and manage my time when given lots of tasks are useful for future career
The Company
many people were on hoilday in my team while i was here so I think the atmosphere was quieter than it would normally be
Induction day in London was well organised. I had someone to meet me at the manchester office on my first day there and my desk and computer had been set up. I still don't have a working phone after 6 weeks!
Had training day in london, a few conference call training sessions and some online training
have been told if they are taking people on for next september I should be successful, however it is not known if they will be
The Culture
Had a few nights out with colleagues but not as many as other offices. It was a good amount for me and the commuting to work meant I didn't feel like too many nights out after work!
Was living at home and commuting in, £11 per day without a season ticket. Meals out etc were reasonably priced
Manchester city centre so lots of oppurtunities to go out
a couple of nights out
