The Role
Enjoyed the work which was interesting and actuarial related did work with would actually be done by the graduates, little admin work. Took part in a CSR - community project where I worked in a team and participated fundraising and other events. This was interesting and helped to build my skills and myself as a person. Had many after office activities such as cricket and football matches and a netball/football tournament in Manchester which made the internship that much more enjoyable and sociable.
Was taken to team lunches and invited to all the events that the AON offered to their main employees. Everyone was approachable and provided assistance even when they were busy.
Was given all the information and guidance I needed to complete all the tasks and procedures. When I had a question I gained a immediate response from the HR and the supervisors.
In the beginning was not very busy as I did not have the skills to complete many of the jobs but as time went on I became busier and went towards a perfect balance. However there was small periods where there was nothing to do and I had to ask for work. Generally good.
Was given responsibility which was appropiate for my level of experience. A lot of responsibility was given in the intern project and appropiate responsibility was given in work.
Gained a huge amount of experience in not simply actuarial work but also in group work, report work and presentation skills. Improved excel and Visual basic skills. Gained teamwork, communication and organisation skills and how to be client focused.
The Company
People were relaxed, approachable and friendly.
Knew all the deadline and what was going on when. Had a good structure.
Was given appropiate actuarial work during the internship which helped me develope my skills and get a real taste of what actuarial was was like and was given a community project which helped to develope skills immensly, was given a general and technical induction all of this took time and work which was invested in the interns rather than other parts of the company.
