    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Nice people to work with, offices/locations could be improved and updated. Overall helped me learn a lot of new skills and knowledge but could have been a little more demanding

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of colleagues valued me as an important colleague, as I was able to make some changes and improvements to help identify opportunities to save money.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Plenty of support from my manager and other interns as well as grads who were able to advise me in particular situations.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Varied from day to day, some days very little work to do others couldn't complete deadlines!

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A fair amount, however, I feel that I could have had more responsibility throughout my placement and the majority of tasks and projects didn't have much significance to helping improve the business massively.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Plenty of new skills and knowledge learnt, which can be used in my studies in final year.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Being the youngest in the office by about 30 years, I found it difficult to get to know my colleagues in my office. Generally they all just got on with their work.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement could have been better organised by following a strict structure. Sometimes I found myself not doing much at weeks at a time and with my manager away from the office it was difficult to know what I could be doing.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended nearly 10 separate training days which really helped me to think about the wider picture and learn more about myself.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Would prefer to experience a new business.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With Cardiff 20 mins drive away and living with 3 other interns I got on well and we managed to enjoy nights outs.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Newport was quite cheap, so we managed to live in a very nice modern house for £95 a week all bills included! Cardiff was nearby so nights out were to there rather than Newport which has a bit of a reputation.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Rough. Always went to Cardiff for nights out - much better!

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Football every Monday night and circuit training every Thursday.

    3/5
